Description

From Searchlight Pictures and writer-director Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) comes a unique feature film starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Although small-town neighbors Pádraic (Farrell) and Colm (Gleeson) have a lifelong friendship, they find themselves at a sudden impasse that brings alarming consequences for both of them. Colm has announced that he no longer wishes Pádraic to speak to him, insisting he will cut off one of his own fingers every time this request is breached. Despite Colm’s outrageous, unilateral proclamation, however, Pádraic is determined to salvage their relationship. Set against the backdrop of the 1920s Irish Civil War, The Banshees of Inisherin features a gifted cast, unique storyline and beautiful cinematography.

Recently before I watched the Banshees, I was going through a very painful experience with someone I believed to be an important friend. I was shocked when the friendship ended over unexplainable reasons. I was able to relate to the emotions, although circumstances in the movie were magnified. A cleansing cry and understanding of a situation that can never be mended.

Original, unique movie beautifully shot, brilliantly acted and perfectly scored. An emotional roller coaster - you’ll laugh, cry, feel. My best pic of this year.

Good acting but that’s it. Kind of shocked that’s all there was to this movie.

Absolutely fantastic film. Outstanding performances from all the main characters. Must see. Ignore the ignorant reviews. This is a perfect film. Maybe the best I have seen since Parasite.

I haven’t seen the movie, but after reading these reviews I’m not trying. Jimmiggin, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for your review. It was clear, concise, and thoughtful with a dash of sarcasm towards all likes. Definitely a great and thorough review, an enjoyable review!

I recommend not watching this movie. It has fine actors in a terrible, depressing movie that makes light of serious mental health and abuse issues. It takes place in an incredibly beautiful location and has a hauntingly beautiful score but is otherwise not something I recommend watching ever. It also disdains the one saving grace of the lead characters, a love for animals. Spoiler Alert: Horses and donkeys cannot physically throw up. That inaccuracy made a key scene absurd. Otherwise the main characters are by turns stupid and evil to each other and themselves over and over.

What a great film, subtle and a great cast. Ignore the downers who post here. It’s definitely worth of the Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
  • Waste of a movie

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. You keep thinking there is going to be some kind of break thru with the script, but no. Don't waste your time or money.
