Description

In 1553, England's idle rich were anything but idle. With the blessing of the royal family, they plundered the riches of the church, stole the finest farmlands, and generally took all the best things the country had to offer. A cousin to the infamous Henry VII, Lady Jane Grey disapproved of the way her fellow nobles behaved, and disagreed with their religious beliefs. But as a sheltered 16-year-old, there wasn't much she could do about it. Then, through a strange turn of events, Lady Jane Grey was crowned Queen Jane, ruler of all England. Based on the true story of the girl who found herself Queen of England for nine days at age 16, Lady Jane is a historical romance at its bittersweet best. Look for Patrick Stewart as Henry Grey, Duke of Suffolk.

I loved the movie, was very romantic but also had a lot of history in it. Got me interested in the past kings and queens of England, but it was a great movie!!!

I bought this movie a fer months ago and I love watching it! It's really great! I never heard on Lady Jane Grey until I saw this movie. Bonham Carter is my most favorite actress and she's in a great movie. There are a few differences from real life and history, such as that Guilford and Jane didn't really stay and didn't really love each other. Other than that, great movie!

I was a little disappointed about the lack of accuracy in history. I had only just read a little bit about Lady Jane--the real tale--and when I watched the movie, I got confused... However, the acting was well done, and someone who doesn't know about the true story would probably enjoy this film.

I purchased this movie several days ago, and really enjoyed it. Both Elwes and Bonham-Carter did a great job in playing out their roles, in my opinion. The part where they're laughing over the smashed wine goblets was especially funny! :) Although, it's a shame that their parents didn't leave them alone to live out their own lives for themselves while they where young and in the prime of life. I guess it just goes to show you what greed for power can do to a person when they become consumed by it. I never really knew anything about Lady Jane Grey until I watched this movie. It was pretty cool learning about another Tudor relation, distant though she apparently was. Overall, terrific movie! Worth the money if you like historical films. :)

I never thought anyone would have made a movie about the ill-fated Jane Grey. Although I know that Jane and Guildford were really indifferent to eachother and Guildford was a spoiled mama's boy, I like to forget that when I watch this movie that has such a strong love story.

I absolutely loved this movie. I watched it with a little bit of hesitation, but it turned out to be everything I love in a period movie. Cary Ewles and Helena Bonham Carter do a wonderful job and the story was not lacking in any way. Every part was played with feeling and the characters were all very three dimensional. Rent it. Buy it. You just HAVE to see it

On several counts this movie is ridiculous, bordering on terrible. Anyone who appreciates well-executed period films, especially for Tudor England, should steer clear of this debacle. Fidelity to actual historical details is abysmal. Even the costumes and scenes are widely divergent from what one would expect for a film set in 16th century England. Don't even get me started on the acting and the screenplay. If you haven't seen Elizabeth yet, or even Shakespeare in Love, watch those. If you already have, wait for a new film to come out. This does not make the grade.

Lady Jane is a heartbreaking but beautiful story about an amazing young woman. I originally found this movie after searching online for information on Lady Jane Grey. I watched the movie twice on youtube and then decided to buy it in iTunes. Since it was filmed in the 80’s, the picture quality isn’t the same as modern day movies, but this shouldn’t stop you from watching this film. The portrayal of Lady Jane Grey is historically accurate, although some of the other aspects of the film are not really based on historical facts. After saying all that, if you are considering purchasing this film, it is well worth paying the $9.99. This film is wonderful and the acting is amazing. I really love the way Helena Bonham Carter plays Lady Jane, it’s fascinating to watch. By the end of the movie one almost feels as if you know Lady Jane. Although this story is a heartbreaking tragedy, it has a very strong message of faith, love, hope and courage. It really conveys a very powerful life lesson. Again, well worth the money and I think this film has become one of my favorites! Bravo!

I asbolute loved the movie. I 'm into the period films and this one fit what I was looking for. It had time period, love, and passion. It shows a woman who fell in love with her husband and become queen alot at once. Helena Carter was a good choice to play Jane Gray and the rest of the cast was wonderful. My favorite part is when Dudley father says to him he can't believe that the black sheep has find someone he loves more than anything in the world.

I loved the story of this young queen. It is a tragedy, but has a very strong message of love, courage and faith. I don't think I will ever get tired of watching this movie.
