Description

In a small town in Ireland named Tulaigh More, one of the 52 inhabitants wins the lotto jackpot of nearly seven million pounds.  When nobody claims the loot, the town goes on a search to find the winner. However, all they find is old Ned Devine dead, a smile on his face, clutching the winning ticket. In Ireland, the lottery winnings must be claimed by the purchaser, which puts the town in a spot -- if the lottery officials discover Devine dead, he, and the town of Tulaigh More, forfeit the money. Hilarity ensures when the community embarks on an outrageous scheme to claim the winning lotto ticket! But in the process, the townsfolk learn the importance of friendship and the true value of money.

I've watched this movie more times than I can recall, and enjoy it more each time. Beautifully acted, each character as real as can be wanted. Tully Moore is a place I wouldn't mind spending my last years with its wild windy moors and sea cliffs. The plot is simple but cleverly wrought and as honest as Ned himself. This is a movie you'll be able to watch over and over and never get tired of.
  • I've bought it & watched it at least five times!

I love this movie! It remind s me of the place and the characters where I grew up in Cape Breton. Dennis Lim of the Village voice must have been having a bad day. Condescension? WHAT? ! LOL. By the way, the music is great too.

There are a handful of movies that I could watch a million times and never get tired of it. It gives a little insight to another culture. The music is wondeful. The characters are awesome and the actors and actresses who play them are superb! I love a film that takes me somewhere if only for a while. I was in a small town in Ireland the whole time I watched. Must see and don't rent it, buy it.

Lovely. Well done. Landscape and humanscape capture a cross-cultural story of community with humor, excellent soundtrack, and storyline. A must see. Do yourself a favor.

Waking Ned Devine for my wife and I is a special treat that my wife and I bring out only once or twice a year. Oddly enough it always seems to be around St. Patrick's Day. The script is clever. When can you say that about television or film anymore, but it is. Do yourself and enjoy this terrific romp through this small Irish town. The actors are amazing and the scenary is to die for. I just learned recently however, if you love the scenary as much as I do, the film was actually filmed mostly on the Isle of Man. It's a beautiful place between England and Ireland. Enjoy!!!!

I love this movie and have watched it repeatedly. There is some element of redemption in this movie that makes you feel good afterwards. I'll never ever forget the motorcycle "escape" scene...
