  • Lithgow's 20,000 Feet is almost worth it alone...

Mad Maxs George Miller directed the 20,000 feet remake segment and it is so good. It almost alone makes the film worth it. Loved Shatner's creepy and curious TV original. Love this more. The original was like Alien. This is like Aliens. Full on Terror, Full on Thriller and Full on action. 80s Not subtle. Lithgow is a raging nut...or is he? The scenes in between the segments were fun too. I thought Jon Landis segment had potential to be good if Landis didnt kill everybody. It basically has no ending. Ruining whatever they setup. Spielberg took one of the more boring Twilight Zone episodes and made it 10x more boring. Joe Dantes was the most horror like. Solid underrated segment. The mouthless sister scene was perhaps the movies most memorable moment. Completely comparing it to a legendary TV show with almost 100 episodes is a bit unfair. No doubt its a flawed film in and out. I still say give it an open minded shot.

Most of the previous reviews have given this movie a thumbs down. On a whole they are accurate. However in my view Time Out segment was the most interesting. The other remakes were average except for Nightmare at 20,000 feet. Despite the able production team, they were not able to pull off a block buster. The only question worth asking is would Rod Serling be satisfied? Sadly, probably No. Worth renting only if you a fan of the cult series.
  • This movie put John Landis out of the film industry

Only a couple of the segments are good and most are not. But the one segment that’s the creepiest is the first one. John Landis directing Vic Morrow and 2 kids in a swamp type setting, he had a helicopter over head as Vic Morrow is trying to get these 2 kids out of the water. Unfortunately because of Landis asking the pilot of the helicopter to go lower and lower for a better shot, there was a malfunction that caused the helicopter to tip over and in the process Vic morrow was decapitated by the blades of the helicopter and the two kids were crushed to death by the helicopter crashing in the water. At the trial for the murder of the three, Landis got away Scott free and at the trial, he was laughing and going on like this tragedy never happened. But, Landis doesn’t direct movies anymore because of that incident. Otherwise, the movie has some good segments, but not all. And yes, the original tv series was amazing and incredibly written by Rod Serling. The tv show was much better.

My 13 year old son Gunner is a huge fan of the twilight zone and when he herd about the movie he bought it on I Tunes. It was a great film in his opinion and the 3rd segment was his favorite and warning this movie is not a kids movie it's a bit creepy even to him with Cartoons coming to life to terrorize a family and jump scares.

I don't know why you can't accept that oldies are better than newbies. This movie should rule the world by now! The Twilight Zone is going nowhere if you idiots keep writing filthy, nasty reviews about your favorite show! You guys are nothing but a bunch of I Don't Want To Say Its. And the reason the trailer doesn't show anything is because this movie came out in 1983! And plus, what can they put in the trailers without spoiling the whole movie! Give me a break, idiots!

If you've never seen it, you're missing out on a classic with John Lithgow, pre-Third Rock From the Sun, Dan Aykroyd shortly after Belushi's untimely death and the late Scatman Crothers and Vic Morrow. The four segments are each worth "the price of admission". I rented it. I may no buy it for my collection. Good stuff!
  • Worth It for the 4th Story.....

I love this movie for the 4th and final story - a suspenseful update of the classic "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" originally starring William Shatner. John Lithgow is outstanding as an airline passenger who has a meltdown mid-flight during a thunderstorm. Seems there's something on the wing of the plane having fun with the engines.... The other 3 stories are average, at best. Also, the very beginning is cool with Dan Akroyd and Albert Brooks (an intro, not 1 of the 4 segments).
