I remember watching this movie on HBO when I was about 13 years old. I enjoyed the surfing scenes and the scenery of California. Fast forward 36 years later and the film takes on a whole new meaning. I enjoyed the film when I was younger but its message and meaning certainly have more impact after the passage of time. A very good film with some fun moments and tragic and sad moments which really mirrors life. Definitely timeless in its message and very worth watching at any age.

This is one of my favorite movies. Great actors and an emotional story about a group of friends coming of age. Jan Michael Vincent passed away today but this movie will endure. RIP

I was looking through a list of the greatest "sports movies of all time" and was delighted to see this on the list. A favourite from childhood, it hasn't lost any impact today. It's a modern classic

simply enough: great story, classic actors, great surfing. The end will make you tear up. You dont need to be a surfer to love this film.
