Description

A happy and unbelievably lucky young Irish immigrant, John Lawless, lands a job as the butler of an unconventional millionaire, Biddle. His daughter, Cordelia Drexel Biddle, tires of the unusual antics of her father--especially since the nice young men around town all fear him. Wouldn't you fear a father-in-law that keeps alligators for pets and teaches boxing at his daily Bible classes? Cordelia decides to run off to boarding school and promptly finds the man of her dreams. Unfortunately, his family doesn't approve of Biddle's outrageous antics, either.

    By Mine, hands off!
Fred MacMurry was to over the top, and Tommy Steele constantly placing a huge grin straight at the camera made this hard to swallow. Thank goodness for some class in this picture with Geraldine Page, Gladys Cooper, and the incomparable Greer Garson! With out them, this movie would be unwatchable!! What a shame that this was the final movie Walt Disney was working on when he died. This was defiantly not the Sherman Brother's best score by far…they had just won for Mary Poppins! If for nothing else, watch when Geraldine Page and Gladys Cooper meet for the first time and sing "There are Those" and Fred MacMurry, realizing for the first time his home is quiet, he sing a wonderful song with Greer Garson called "It won't be Long 'til Christmas" (Unfortunatly the last song mentioned was not on the soundtrack and was never corrected :( )
