Description

In 2009, Columbia Pictures' and Sony Pictures Animation's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs will be the most delicious event since macaroni met cheese. Inspired by the beloved children's book, the film focuses on a town where food falls from the sky like rain. Bill Hader, star of "Saturday Night Live" and Night At the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, will voice Flint Lockwood, a young inventor who dreams of creating something that will improve everyone's life. Anna Faris, who recently turned heads as the star of the comedy hit The House Bunny, takes on the role of Sam Sparks, a weathergirl covering the phenomenon who hides her intelligence behind a perky exterior. James Caan plays Tim Lockwood, Flint's technophobic father. Andy Samberg plays Brent, the town bully who has plagued Flint since childhood. Bruce Campbell plays Mayor Shelbourne, who figures out that Flint's invention can put the town, and more importantly himself, on the map and Mr. T plays the by-the-rules town cop Earl Devereaux.

Note: This is a review for the Blu Ray 3D version of CWACOM rather than the actual film itself. We’re going to break down the 3D effects of Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs Cinemablend style. So here we go. Does it fit? 5/5 How can it not fit? It’s animated, it’s bright and colorful, and there’s food falling from the sky. If there’s a perfect candidate for a 3D transfer, it’s Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. Planning and effort 5/5 Back during the 3D boom of the late 00’s, there were basically 2 types of 3D films: #1. The type of film that knew what they were doing with 3D and made sure to utilize the technology the best they could. And #2. The type of film that only uses 3D as a cash grab and would be better off in 2D. Luckily, CWACOM fits into the former category. The 3D was planned for at the beginning and it shows. Before the window 5/5 This is aspect of 3D that uses the technology to make objects to protrude the screen. This area succeeds greatly. Although, contrary to what you might at first think, the majority of pop out effects aren’t always using food. But this area of still used with people, inventions, and well, food. What’s probably my favorite way this area is used is when Flint Lockwood gets in front of his dads space. Then, the camera switches over to the dads perspective to make Flints face inches from yours. That was a slightly awkward but fun way of showing the category off. Beyond the window 5/5 This area is probably, and most surprisingly, CWACOM’s greatest strength. Not only is its animated environment bright, colorful, and full of food, it also gets many opportunities to create as much depth as possible. And this movie doesn’t often let those opportunities pass up. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is great with depth as well as getting things to pop out of the screen. Brightness 5/5 Putting on 3D may pamper with the brightness a bit. But with a film as bright and vibrant as CWACOM, darkness is never a problem in the slightest. Glasses off test 5/5 This test basically states that when you take your glasses off, you should see lots of blur. This means you’re getting more 3D with the glasses on. CWACOM perfectly uses this and is flawless in this category. Audience Health 4/5 I had a bit of eye strain, but it was nothing too harmful for me. The only shame with this is that it might’ve been an off day for me because with the 3D as great as it was, I didn’t think I’d have any problem with it. Conclusion 34/35 CWACOM is a great film, but if you’re seeing it in 2D, let’s just say that you’re kinda doing it wrong. This film was made for 3D right from the start and works with the technology whenever it can. If you are to see this, be sure to see it in 3D. With all the food and depth, this if nothing short of a treat for you, your kids, and your eyes.

This is a good kids movie! It’s also very funny. The first time I watched it with my little brother I was laughing most of the movie! But, SPOILER ALERT!!!!! The bad guy/mayor is kind of annoying to me... there are some bad guys that just make you shiver or are interesting to watch. But this guy, man I kinda wanted to skip the parts with him in it. For some people he may be funnyish but not me. Other than that, you should probably/DEFINITELY get this movie... for three reasons: laughter, adventure and 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😂
