The original is my all-time favorite movie so I expected to be disappointed with this remake, but it's actually not bad at all. Very true to the original, which is important to me.

I'm guessing I would have liked this film. But it won't play. I rented it for $3.99 and I cannot even watch it. Wasted my money!! Can't even figure it out. Kinda mad.

Although the original cannot be topped, this is a wonderful remake and stays true to the original. I love the fact that is was modernized to fit the culture of the 90's. No it is not creative but I really hope it inspires people to watch Hitchcock's "Psycho" It was a first in many ways and was the spark that created modern horror flicks. Also, the music that was in the original movie can be heard in modern horrors. Both are film making at its best and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! As the title infers, this is a beautiful homage.

What I don't understand is that you realize that this film was filmed shot for shot with the original. So to say "watch the original" is kind of an oxymoron. It's literally the same film, literally the only difference is the actors. With that in mind, this film is amazing. I had the chance to watch both films side by side and they are literally the same film. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!!! While I like the original, this one stands on it's own because of the new actors and they way they deliever there lines.

There is absolutely no reason to ever watch this film. There is no reason this film should have ever been made. It is a shot-for-shot reproduction of Hitchcock's Psycho, so for Gus Van Sant to have claimed to have directed it is practically criminal. Joseph Stefano's original screenplay isn't even slightly altered, but thankfully nobody else claimed to have written this film. This so-called "remake" has so faithfully reproduced the 1960 classic that it offers absolutely nothing new or interesting to watch. We do get a little more blood, a little more nudity, and Vince Vaughn pleasuring himself, but none of that in any way adds to the story telling. There is a lot of extraordinary talent in this film, which is really disappointing. I would like to think their standards are too high to allow them to participate in a carbon copy of what is arguably the most notable work of an iconic filmmaker. Watch Alfred Hitchcock's original film, not this weak, Xerox drivel.
  • Worse than the quality of today's remakes.

This film is a worse case of thievery than the $40,000 in the original. This is nothing but mindless, soulless regurgitation of one of the greatest horror films ever made.
