Description

Zoinks! Two years after a clash of egos forced Mystery Inc. to close it's doors, Scooby-Doo and his clever crime-solving cohorts Fred (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and Velma (Linda Cardellini) are individually summoned to Spooky Island to investigate a series of paranormal incidents at the ultra-hip Spring Break hot spot. Concerned that his frightfully popular resort might truly be haunted, Spooky Island owner Emile Mondavarious (Rowan Atkinson) tries to reunite those notoriously meddling detectives to solve the mystery before his supernatural secret scares away the college crowds. Scooby and the gang will have to overcome their personal differences and forget everything they think they know about fake ghouls and phony creatures to crack the case, save themselves and possibly... the world! Ruh-roh!

While classics like Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? (and all its spin-offs, from The Scooby-Doo Show to The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo) are known for repetition and going back-to-the-formula between episodes/cases, at least it had--and has--precision and comic pizazz. (And seamless chemistry, not to mention.) This supposed live-action homage, SCOOBY-DOO: THE MOVIE, makes its source material look, sound, and feel like a late 20th-Century/early 21st-Century teen funeral durge. Unmasking Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers (Matthew Lillard) as an alive-and-well, though shaken, Stu Macher (SCREAM). Velma Dinkley (Linda Cardellini) as a still-less-than-confident Lindsay Weir (FREAKS & GEEKS). Fred Jones (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) as whatever-his-name-is who pines for and trips up in courting girls with trust issues (SHE'S ALL THAT; I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER). Daphne Blake (Sarah Michelle Gellar), most infamously, as a cheap knock-off of a certain TV [teenVOGUE] vamp buster. And Scooby-Doo himself...well...as a computer-generated shadow of his pre-animation self. Remember me mentioning seamless chemistry? The principal cast here seems to have NO chemistry at all. If they do, it is HOLLOW at best. Thusly, "Mystery, Incorporated" is "Mystery, Isolated", more or less. Unless the gang, in their true metaphysical form, comes around, I doubt Scooby-Dum or Yabba-Doo will be able--or willing--to make it. Oh, and Mondovarious--the name of the villain--spells the plot in a nut shell: mondo tropes & cliches, various could-have-beens, and MONDO unnecessary changes. Otherwise, SCOOBY-DOO would have made cinematic and nostalgic waves, and gotten away with it too...if wasn't for these meddling filmmakers.

I mean this movie was okay from my childhood but the movie looks so bland and the casting chocies for the scooby-doo gang were truly awful. I won't recommend this film if you are a scooby doo fan to be exact!
