Why doesn't Thandie Newton's name appear on this page? Nolte was great as usual but Newton was an obvious standout.
Wow! I love this movie!

At long last, this movie is available on iTunes. This is another collaboration film between Producer Ismail Merchant and Director James Ivory. Like their other films, such as The Remains of the Day, Howards End and A Room With a View, Jefferson in Paris in a moving story with gorgeous cinematography and elaborate costumes.
Nick Nolte is excellent as Thomas Jefferson, and Greta Scacchi is just beautiful as his love interest, Maria Cosway. This film takes place during Jefferson's time in Paris as America's Ambassador to France, just prior to the French Revolution. The real story is the love affair he begins with his daughter's nurse, Sally Hemings, played by Thandie Newton. This movie has been a favorite of mine for a long time and I freely recommend it.
Bottom line, if you like Merchant Ivory period films, you will enjoy Jefferson in Paris!
