KO I think I remember loving this movie back in the days and now I still love pirates like the anime ones thanks to Treasure Planet! Hope it still continues being within our hearts of our favorite movies!

I grew up watching this movie. This movie was ahead of its time. The storyline, voice cast, drawing detail, characters, soundtrack, all of it is amazing. A job well done movie. It deserves far more credit than it received. This movie will remain one of my favorites no matter how old I am. And the message behind it is a well written one. “You’ve got the makings of greatness in ya. But you’ve got to take the helm and chart your own course. Stick to it, no matter the squalls. And when the time comes you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails and show what you’re made of… Well, I hope I am there; catching some of the light coming off you that day.” 💙💙💙💙

A classic Disney tale that brings back fond memories of when movies truly sought to rivet your attention, and captivate your heart with tales of adventure. Don't let this gem pass you buy. It truly is a wonderful treasure.

Still one of the best Disney movies in my opinion! I will never grow out of this movie!

Emotional adventure that’s beautiful and well written. One of my favorite movies of all time. Definitely a must see

I love this movie so much and I wish people would’ve went to see it when it came out in theaters because then they would’ve put out the second one!! They were almost done with the sequel when they got the news that the first made the Disney Studios loose a lot of money. It’s so sad and idk about everyone else but I’m gonna try my best to show Disney how much money they could get by putting out the second movie.

One of the best and underrated films in history.

First off, despite all the reviews otherwise, I do appear to be seeing a Buy option. So there is that. I let this one slip by me when it was new and getting largely lackluster reviews, so I personally wasn't ready to drop $20 on a might-watch-once, but the $4 rental was quite worthwhile. Working in the digital media space myself, I find Treasure Planet to be a fascinating snapshot in the brief window of CG-assist underpinning traditional animation. The plot is nothing to write home about- a full rehash of an older story with more originality on world than narrative, few well-developed characters, and no tear-jerking emotional climaxes expected of modern Disney blockbusters. The soundscore lends mood and blends nicely into the background, but largely stays there, lacking the kinds of memorable showpieces stamped even into earlier work e.g. Aladdin, Little Mermaid, or Beauty and the Beast. There are elements that I could see making the film a niche classic, and I'll probably watch it again at some point, but I'd definitely place it more as a "hey, have you heard about..." than a "wow, you need to go look up..." recommendation.

One of Disney’s Best movie produced. Wish they stuck through with the sequel to this movie because I know if released and marketed right, it would do really big things almost if not record breaking.

15 years old? That’s alright, despite having come out in 2002, Treasure Planet is by far one of the best films to ever come out of Disney (recognizing the fact it is an alteration of the original story Treasure Island). “A troubled teenager without a vision for his future does on an exciting, coming-of-age adventure”, it resonates with a lot of us no matter our age; and the bond built between main characters Jim Hawkins and John Silver is by far the most touching aspect of the film. Nobody is perfect, and Disney wonderfully expresses this with Jim’s broken family and John Silver’s inner conflict between being a ruthless pirate and a father figure to Jim. This movie is my favorite, and I have enjoyed watching it on replay ever since I was a kid. The message is good, the characters are lovable, and the storyline and art are phenomenal. It’s a shame, however, that it’s sequel was canceled.
