Description

Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage (National Treasure, Ghost Rider) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Hellboy II, Sons of Anarchy) star in this supernatural action adventure about a heroic Crusader and his closest friend who return home after decades of fierce fighting, only to find their world destroyed by the Plague. The church elders, convinced that a girl accused of being a witch is responsible for the devastation, command the two to transport the strange girl to a remote monastery where monks will perform an ancient ritual to rid the land of her curse. They embark on a harrowing, action-filled journey that will test their strength and courage as they discover the girl's dark secret and find themselves battling a terrifyingly powerful force that will determine the fate of the world.

Almost as laughably awful as the remake of Wicker Man. Cage's movies are often hit or miss and both of these films miss the mark by quite a bit.
  • The Greatest D&D Movie Ever Made?

This is the second greatest Dungeons and Dragons movie ever made right after 13th Warrior. Don't be fooled, just because it doesnt have that dragon logo in the title doesnt mean this isn’t a D&D movie. In fact it probably helps that it doesn’t. Far superrior to the actual branded D&D films.

Alot of people just follow what the critics say and ultimately let that be the deciding factor as to whether or not a movie is worth watching. That's not a very wise thing to do, especially with this movie. I honestly was entertained by the whole story and Nicholas Cage did a pretty decent job overall in this one. It has a dark atmosphere and feel to the movie which really brings you into it. True it's not a big hit, expensive movie but it's worth alot more than just some idiotic rotten tomatoe critics reviews or ignorant user reviews.

This is actually not that bad of a movie, and it's one of the few in recent memory where Nic Cage actually works, rather than just dials it in. It's worth a rental at the least.

I don’t get where all the bad ratings are coming from, I thought this movie was really really cool!! I’ve seen it a couple times already and Im going to buy it now to have it in my collection. Maybe not an all time great but its EXACTLY what I was hoping it would be. Cool settings, dark, action, fun, and just a good solid movie. We all know by now you can’t trust rotten tomatoes in the slightest but still Im shocked even for them that they rated this movie so low. But usually if rotten tomatoes says a movie is bad it means its just not going to be up for any awards. Usually the movies I like aren’t up for awards, I find those movies boring except for a few really amazing ones that everyone likes. Anyways if this is your type of movie like Van Helsing or Underworld, stuff like that, then watch and enjoy

It starts off with an intriguing premise and great potential, but by the end, degenerates into terrifically bad special effects and a tacked-on implausible ending. The subplot with the Plague made no sense at all. Which is really too bad, since setting an action thriller during the Black Death was a really great premise. Also, the visual effects on the plague victims were unrealistic to Yersinia pests (plague) infection. It looked like the victims had huge tumors growing out of their heads. This is not what happened to actual victims and made the movie look silly from the get-go. The film had potential, but it was wasted.
