Description

Talihina Sky is the story of Kings of Leon, whose strict Pentecostal upbringing in Oklahoma and Tennessee preceded their unlikely transformation into one of the biggest rock bands in the world. The film follows Nathan, Caleb, Jared and Matthew Followill back to Talihina, Oklahoma for their annual family reunion. This reunion serves as a catalyst to explore the band’s roots and the difficulties they faced growing up. Home movies, childhood photos and revealing interviews with family members -- including a colorful group of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins -- expose how the influence of their family has informed the creativity that drives Kings of Leon today. Now a multi-platinum act, Kings of Leon continues to feel the influence of their past while confronting the evolving set of struggles that come with massive success. The band’s achievements have rippled back home to affect their family, who take great pride in, and some of the credit for, the cousins who made it big. The story of Kings of Leon has been called the "best band creation story in recent memory" and, for the first time, is being shared by the people who lived it.

I love the kings and this documentary. It does have a lot of religious stuff in it, but that's how they were raised. It so interesting how a bunch of religious country boys turned into rock stars. Great movie overall, but it still could've been better.
  • You're some people's favorite band, play like it.

I expected much better. Kinda boring. Glad I didn't buy it. Too much religious mumbo jumbo. Uncle Cleo R.I.P.

This is the best band in the world. And you are absolutely insane if you think this is a bad documentary. This documentary is about their spiritual upbringing, about how they came to be. Is is very touching, and this has made me love therm even more!  5 stars "I'm gonna die...but it ain't gonna be tonight" -Caleb Followill

I have seen Kings live and was one of the best live shows I have ever seen, but this is one of the worst documentaries I have seen. You really don't get to know too much of anything other than they come from a white trash family with a bunch of hypocritical Christians.

I absolutely loved this movie. I was watching it at first and I was so excited.. I was so disappointed when it stopped playing, so I played it again!!! Hahahah, and Cleo is the funniest person in this. I have the movie on Blu-ray, and it is my favorite documentary ever..!!!

Ok ... I'm a documentary chic! I usually can go for just about anything so when I came upon this, I was excited. I love kings of Leon music and new some parallels between their religious upbringing and my own ... But I HATED this movie! I couldn't even make it through it! I think what most irritates me was that the band acted beyond what they've yet earned. They came off licentious, pathetic, and detached. But it wasn't the curious type of rocker selfishness; it was greedy and messy and arrogant. Maybe I was just in a mood but mocking the place you drank the water from; not cool

You are CRAZY if you didn't like this! I loved their crazy family, their passion for music and it showed how human they are, their dysfunctional, they argue but the love each other. Watching this really made me become a fan! And I absolutely love the version of Talihina sky that plays at the end! Two thumbs up!
