Description

This dynamic action-thriller directed by Oscar(R) winner Steven Soderbergh (Contagion) boasts a talented cast that includes Channing Tatum (GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra), Ewan McGregor (The Ghost Writer), Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Antonio Banderas (The Legend of Zoro), Bill Paxton ("Big Love"), Michael Douglas (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Michael Angarano (Almost Famous); and introduces mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, in a demanding lead role that has her performing her own high-adrenaline stunts. Mallory Kane is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive. Using her black-ops military training, she devises an ingenious--and dangerous--trap. But when things go haywire, Mallory realizes she'll be killed in the blink of an eye unless she finds a way to turn the tables on her ruthless adversary.

  • Gina drags down Soderbergh

She can’t act. Given a great cast and fabulous director, potentially a new career on a silver platter, Gina goes hard—as in wooden.
  • Gina is the real deal

THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE. The best female action lead. To all the studio heads and financiers: You all are making a huge mistake not going forward with this lady as a hero in as many movies as you can make with her. She is the real deal. Look at the big icons that worked with her on this. Look at the respect and admiration they have for HER. Don’t look at her fluff pieces. Look at this. Her fight scenes and commitment to work hard for the scenes is unmatched. I watch this movie and extras in regular rotations as she is spot on in her presence delivery and performance. She looks great beat up or in full make up and a dress. You worked around Van Dams speech and we all stumbled through Stalones mumbling. As well as Jackie Chans sporadic English coaching. Give her some good leading rolls and sit back and watch the cash roll in. No more supporting runs for her please. She deserves it. You allow other actresses to cross over. Nicole Kidman Destroyer. Naomi Rampace. Gina deserves all your considerations. She’s fabulous.
  • Too Bourne-esque, too thinly written

For the $1.99 that the film was renting for, it was worth it if you need to kill two hours, but, despite the great fight sequences and the stunts, there's a little too much running, and a little too little actual story, to hold the movie together.

The whole time I was routing for villains! That didn’t work and neither did this movie.
