Description

This is an epic tale of two gangs, like The Jets and The Sharks. But Girl and Chocolate aren't even gangs. Some of them act tough and some of them act like babies. But they are even more unlike the Jets and The Sharks in that they aren't even battling each other for territory. They really don't know what the hell they are doing. They don't have a feud, most of them really like each other so that is another thing they don't have in common with the Jets and the Sharks. What they do have in common with The Jets and The Sharks is they love to dance. And when I say dance, I mean SKATE. And when I say SKATE, I mean really good. From the directors that brought you Mouse, Yeah Right and Fully Flared, another chapter in this tale with no plot, no ending but beautiful inner battles acted out on a little board with wheels.

Let's just say Propeller was much better! Nike SB is lame as F👑💄K! because they are destroying the true art of skateboarding and making it a monopol. #GUYISGIRL

I will lay it out for you. I'm 21 years old. I live in a beach community where everyone either skates or surfs. Figures I can't do both (i can sort of surf... sort of). Over summer vacation (I go to college at the Univ. at Buffalo) I would spend my days either working, which was most of the time, or chilling with my amigos on the beach or at the cribber. One day after doing some photography for a skater buddy of mine, because those who can't skate film, we went back to his friends and proceeded to watch this movie. I was intrigued by the talent, considering I didn't know much about newer skaters at the time. The last time I made a serious dig into the skating community was back when the original T.H.U.G. came out. But after watching this movie I was sucked right back into the culture. I did research on the skaters, the new tricks they busted out, and the companies involved. Needless to say I've watched this movie over a dozen times. I think a big part of me being able to watch this movie as a guy who can't even coast down the block on a board and not be bored, since I wasn't up to date with the current status of skateboard pros/ams, was the humanistic aspect and personable relatability. Showing the bails and fails, the laughter, the pain, it all made it seem relevant. The next thing that drew me in was the incorporation of Jack Black and Will Arnett. These two comics/actors really made it funny in their cuts and I felt that they brought out a lot in the skaters they worked with. If I was a skater watching this then the two actors are just extras, but being out of the loop at the time of watching this, it was a cool perk. Their parts were perfect length. Not straying to far away from the action and they were getting involved with the movie hands-on. Literally, Black was a camera guy for a bit and Arnett was busting Tershy's chops about riding vert. Lastly the soundtrack is PERFECT. The music draws out the emotions and really brings you closer into this movie. The music fits each guys personality and the editing times up with the tracks too. Seriously, there is something so smooth about synchronicity. This movie brings you the best upcoming skaters, breaking out some of their best tricks, while laughing, and jamming to great tunes. You can watch this film 100 times and find something new. It is enjoyable if you don't skate, just started, or been doing it for 25 years. 10/10 Just buy it.

I currently own the Bluray, and will most likely buy the iTunes version as well. If you are a skateboarder, or even if you just like watching skaters, or slow-mo videos. This is an incredible example of great filmography. I highly recommend checking it out.
