Marion is incredibly gifted as an actress. The movie is about her during WWII, not a movie about WWII ... there's a difference. She's totally believable as Edith and the aging process during her life is remarkable. I love the movie enough to purchase it since rental never seems to be an option.

I really liked this lady's songs and I even downloaded quite a few. My assumption was that many of these songs were about helping the morale of France during WWII. This movies biggest problem is that it totally leaves out anything at all about WWII,totally skipping it completely. Kinda like all those missing years of Jesus. I don't understand why all of Edith's years singing publicly since the 30s, that all the years of WWII were completely left out. To me this was a major disappointment. One more thing, none of her songs were involved in sub-title translation. Like duh, would have been nice to know what she was singing.

I don't write reviews but this one deserves it. I watched it a few years ago and I loved it. I was a fan of Piaf before the film and I think this actress played her character well. It's long but worth it. I highly recommend it!

The fiction is nice take on the life of one of the most famous singers ever in France and Europe. For those who know Edith Piaf you will love this movie as it is nice to put a face and all these beautiful songs and get a sense of what her life looked and felt like. For those who never heard of Edith Piaf, it is a great way to learn the incredible story of this small woman who started with nothing and came from a poor background but yet seduced with her voice and personality a whole country back then and future generations after her death. The story is touching, and like all stars and legends Edith's life alternated between true happiness and more tragic moments. Great acting performance from Marion Cotillard. A 5 stars without any doubt.
