    The space adventure is all good but... "“ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS, EXCEPT EUROPA. ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE. USE THEM TOGETHER. USE THEM IN PEACE.” ;

    THE worst editing of any film I've ever seen, and among the worst story telling. We're thrown into the story with a series of random events, without any hook, with no reason to be interested in the crew or their mission. There is no organization to the following events. At no point was I interested in what was happening--I just wanted the chaos to stop and some form a story to start. It never happened. Truly awful.

    This was a very good movie and well worth the time it took to watch it, and it sticks with you a long time after. It is Sci-Fi that isn`t primarily fantasy, because compared to most sci-fi films it is relatively realistic and actually pays homage to the laws of physics. The story is reminiscent of a minor chapter in Arthur C.Clarke`s 2010: Odyssey 2, where a manned ship lands on Jupiter`s Moon Europa to search for microbial life under the ice. Perhaps even more important is that this film demonstrates that a gripping plot, good script and acting alone are enough to make a great film that inspires deep emotion, awe, and interest in science and pays tribute to the human spirit of exploration and discovery; there is no sex, violence, bad language, nudity, greed or bad/evil people---it would be nice if Hollywood got the message and made more films like this. The one criticism I have is the how they edited the (spoiler alert) accident that happened on the way out, we only find out about that later when it cuts back to the trip out. I found this confusing and jarring for a while until i realized it was a flash back.
  • What story does this movie tell?

    I've only seen it a few times in spite of buying it, so it's not a spectacular film you want to see over and over I admit that. In spite of that this movie has a strong story, and a very deep message. What is it like when you are on your own in space? What are the real dangers we face on long range missions, and the limitations of how well prepared we can be? What do we expect and wish for from astronaut that determine the future of our space program and the success or failures of missions that spend untold amounts of funds and are hard to get authorized? Even without the polish of a perfect thriller film this movie comments on all of these things in a way science fiction films rarely do. It's definitely worth the money and I think we should encourage deeper movies like this because they approach realistic questions that are important to the future of the space program, and possibly the future of the human race in space deep space.

    This proves Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic are not always RIGHT . Just Dragged all the way thru , plus just to see a few seconds of an Octopus with some L.E.D. lights like a U.F.O. at the last end - you mean to tell me that's the best they could come up with ????? WTFFFF!!! Acting was below average too , nobody will ever remember them .

    This movie moves around its own timeline very quickly. However a great watch. Exciting, beautiful to see, lots of scientific aspects. It does have that somewhat predictable “Aliens” story line. However Great for fans of Interstellar and 2001/2010…there even an homage to 2001, see if you can catch it?

    I really love this movie, it is very realistic, and really good, even though it is a low budget movie. It is also tense at times.
  • A real bore

    Incredibly boring: the characters are cliches, the plot uninspiring, and the whole thing is just a waste of time...
  • Extremely technically flawed

    Even though NASA advisors were supposed to have been involved in the story, the glaring technical flaws were numerous and just plain stupid. The most ridiculous was the part where the ‘drill’ goes 2.7 kilometers through the ice, to have its probe recording bright sunlight coming through. This is sunlight that is a very small fraction of that on Earth, where our brighter sun can only provide light through 100-200 meters of water. A 10-year-old with an interest in space should have been an advisor and someone to veto the stupidity of this example plus several others.
