I've read a good deal of the reviews and I'm pretty much in the middle. Very disappointed there is not a rental option. The trailer is enticing, but I still, at the cost of being repetitious, I wish I could have rented it. I'll have to pass on the buying option for now. I had to rate it to comment/review, so I went by what others said who had seen it, the short trailer and the cast in the film who usually deliver , namely- Robert Redford & Susan Sarandon. To folks at iTunes: please make more movies that customers may rent. Thank you for allowing the feedback.

Very thoughtful, touching and surprising. Too bad this flew under the radar. What a great experience watching this movie was.

This movie it reminds some of the old movies that had a good story to tell and were magnetically directed with class and humor, Redford as a director and actor of this movie is a 10, same with all the other characters. I enjoyed this movie very much but it isn't one of those easy silly action movies of this days that I also like but this is what a good movie looks like. My recommendation would be rent it.

…you probably won't understand. But this movie makes a valiant effort to give viewers a glimpse into the personalities of the people involved. The only thing I can say to young people that might, might give them some idea of the emotional tenor of the time is this: imagine how people felt after 9/11. Now imagine that the perpetrators of 9/11 were members of the U.S. government -- and they were open and smug about it -- arrogant. This is how many young people in America felt after Kent State and Jackson State: like we were being exterminated by arrogant monsters -- in Vietnam and at home. Not until Nixon resigned and we pulled the last soldier out of Vietnam did the nation begin, slowly, to heal. Even those of us who were ardent peace activists who thought the tactics of the Weather Underground were abhorrent, immoral and counter-productive comprehended where they were coming from. We understood what was driving them. They were the opposite side of the coin from the murderers at Kent State shooting live rounds at unarmed college kids, violence begetting violence begetting violence. I found in this film the kind of peace that only comes after decades of brutally honest self-reflection; there is a maturity of spirit and an honesty which does justice to the people involved and the terrible choices they were faced with at the time.
  • This is a good, & intelligent movie

Simply a great film, intelligent, and believable plot. Of course there are no explosions, no one dies a visually horrific death, and some words in the script have 3 or more syllables… So it may not appeal to everyone!

To all the young and ignorant who have no idea what the Vietnam era was like, and the critics who missed the point, this movie wasn't made for you. This movie is intelligent. The plot is simple really, and tells a story about personal responsibility, in all its forms. It is a morality play on American history.
  • Started out strong...

This had the potential to be a really good film! It starts out strong and then just when you are really getting into it, it falls flat. It jumps around and you think "ah ha, it's going to get good again" and then it doesn't. Someone suggested reading the book first, but I think that would have made it even more disappointing.

What a waste of incredible talent! I had high hopes for this film. It started off great with action, revelation, & anticipation. But after Susan Sarandon's interrogation scene (she was great by the way) & Redford's train rides, it turned into a sluggish drama. I felt no sympathy for ANY of the characters & had no real investment in the outcome. The high point for me was seeing Redford & Nolte onscreen together. It's too bad it was in this turkey.
