Description

Detective Inspector Hazel Micallef (Susan Sarandon) is used to leading a quiet life in a small town, with her mother (Ellen Burstyn), her painkillers, and an occasional drink. But when she stops on a routine call to check on a neighbor, she stumbles across a gruesome murder that shatters her peaceful existence. With the help of Detective Ray Greene (Gil Bellows) and a new transfer cop (Topher Grace), she unearths a series of killings across the country with similar, grisly crime scenes. When a local priest (Donald Sutherland) suggests there may be a link to an ancient ritual, Hazel finds herself on the trail of a religious serial killer following a deadly, higher calling. Based on the novel by Inger Ash Wolfe, it’s a dark, twisted journey to the shadowy landscape between faith and fear.

I love the Air of this Film that is LOTS Like Fargo. Susan Nailed Her Part. The Young man from That 70’s Show Did Great With Her and also Her Lead Detective in the movie, i have seen before….No One can Forget Donald Sutherland…..Always Wonderful. The Killer Reminded me of the one from Manhunter or Manhunt, the one with William something, last or fist name, but he went on to play on a long running cop show as detective. All Great Cast and the Movie Kept me “IN IT” which, anymore, takes some doing. See it. A Bit of A Sleepy Thriller.

We liked this movie. As usual Susan Sarandon was great. Ellen Burstyn I a small role lent warmth to the mother/daughter relationship. Storyline was unusual and thought provoking

This movie is more like a thriller, had my full attention from beginning till end, most of the time it's not preaching, feels like it's telling a real story. Satisfied!

This movie wasn’t suspenseful at all. If I could do it over again, I would wait for it to go on sale and watch it for $.99 (even then I wouldn’t buy it). Just plain BORING.

The appealing mix of faulting characters dealing drug and alcohol dependency ,,as with Sarandon, show as even though we are weak and compromised we can still save the day against the cycle of psychic babble serial killers in small Canandian realms. The brilliance of having the dead victims bearing frozen mouthing of syllybols Is fresh thinking. The threat the fringe misguided murders under veil of painless deliverance from muted existence is universal. I enjoyed the film, especially John Paul's cinematography that separated it from Fargo, Insomnia and other norther crimes stories. This was its own, and Stone nailed it.

This movie has everything you could want in a movie, suspense, humor and amazing actors giving great performances. It's so hard these days to find a movie we can all enjoy together and we watched it with the whole family and everyone loved it. Still talking about it two days later. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Susan Surrandon is a great actress, that was the only thing that held my attention to this film. Topher Grace does a descent job as well but aside from that this movie just isn't good. And without Susan this movie would have gone from not good to horrible. But still Susan as hard as you tried to give this film life it just didn't. It's Main problem is it's boring but has a dose of mystery to the film that may help you stick around for a very boring and disatifsying ending.

For 10 bucks rental fee I was hoping to be swept off my feet. Not so. Good movie, predictable plot, wonderful nuanced acting. Don’t pay 10 bucks to watch it though; wait till price goes down.
