Description

Acclaimed magician Stanley Crawford (Academy Award Winner® Colin Firth*) dazzles his audiences with feats of supernatural amazement. But when it comes to the inexplicable, Stanley is a dedicated skeptic. Enter Sophie Baker (Emma Stone), psychic, soothsayer, and stunning seductress. As Stanley and Sophie embark on misadventures up and down the French Riviera, will they discover proof of a world beyond the laws of physics or have they fallen under the sway of a more earthly chemistry? Woody Allen pulls the strings with precision in this enchanting romantic comedy that explores the realm between what's understood in our minds and what's known in our hearts. *Colin Firth, Academy Award® Winner, The King’s Speech, Best Actor, 2010

Love Colin Firth so thought I’d rent this. Not a huge fan of Woody Allen but did like Midnight in Paris. This movie didn’t have any chemistry between the two main characters and Firth is obviously much older than Emma Stone, which to me, made his romantic interest a little creepy. Wouldn’t suggest this one. For what it’s worth, I thought he did a good acting job w the material he was given.

...need I say more? Attempts to portray reality, but winds up with Collin Firth proposing to Emma Stone... and she says yes. *laughter* A cold, heartless cheerless movie.
  • One of my favorites.

This is a higly underrated movie. It's an incredibly funny endorsement yet a touching critique of the rationalist, materialist and atheistic paradigm. Firth and Stone are both cast in an entirely different light here, and they click remarkably well. Definitely different, and all the better for it!
  • Delightful

A clever story, great acting, and a little moral lesson from Mr. Allen, which makes this film very good indeed

This is one of those rare modern day Woody Allen movies that I truely liked. It's a wonderful may december romance between Colin Firth and Emma Stone. Great story with plenty of twists and turns all leading to a happy end...
  • Beautiful scenes; very good acting, but script? ...Meh.

The scenes in Cotes du Rhone South of France are gorgeous. The golden afternoon sun is heavenly. The cinematography is top notch, as is the acting by all the actors. But the script is predictable and, frankly, not up to par. Glad we did not pay to own it.
  • Witty and clean

The plot is fairly predictable but the enjoyment is in the dialogue. Witty, smart and clean. Highly recommend.

I think the trailer looked brilliant and then as I was watching I had the thought, this must me a Woody Allen film… and with that the film got exceedingly worse. I was disappointed in it, I love the cast but I am just not a fan of Woody’s style.
  • Happy to have seen this work of art.

I can’t see what all the rubbish is about this movie. It was as charming and delightful as were the characters and the portrayals by Firth and Stone and an array of highly talented actors and actresses. Woody Allen, your insight casts great light. Keep up the good work. Bravo!
