  • Incongruent, random, and yet decent

Looks like it was written and directed by someone who only half understands what that means yet, but the core plot pulls through.

I was stationed in Hawaii when I was in the Army from 2001 to 2011 at Scofield Barracks. I’ve never seen so much open racism in my life. There’s a strain of “Nativism” out there, which was truly disgusting. It didn’t matter if you were white or black, if you weren’t “Local” as in Asian and/or Polynesian, they hated your presence. If it wasn’t for the military and the tourists, they’d be eating coconuts everyday
  • AWFUL!!

This was movie was so bad/weird/confusing I can’t even write a proper review. Just do NOT watch it. A screenshot of Hawaii is far more entertaining.

This is a great movie with an amazing cast! All the characters very likeable and I understand some of the criticisms of the movie, but I’m fine with it not winning an Oscar or making some kind of SJW statement to win the critics approval. Really enjoyed it!

Confused. What a mess. It’s like a jr. high film project.
  • Cooper is good in a modest film

Bradley Cooper does well with the very modest script and plot. No talent could improve the story. But it's okay.
  • Love it!

I’ve watched Aloha countless times. Each time I catch new things that I’ve seemed to have missed. I had it on DVR for the longest then lost it so I finally bought it! I’ve always loved Crowe’s movies!

I am a big fan of Cameron Crowe, love his style and feel. And we just saw A Star is Born and wanted to see some more Bradley Cooper. But this film was just a hot mess. The various aspects did not hold together well. Good acting, great sets, some witty dialogue, lots of "feel good" potential, but the way it shuffled around from a "the girl that got away" love story, to (spoiler alert) a "save the world from nuclear disaster" plot was just too much. Add in the "angst-towards-the-colonial-oppresors" native Hawaiin subtext, and the "is she really my daughter" saga, and you've got too many dispart parts that just did not hang together well. The only upside was, I got I nice nap in about half way, and only had to endure the last half, seeing I had missed nothing along the way. If you are looking for a good nap fick, this might be it...

Could not get into it. If a movie doesn’t grab my attention in the first 10 minutes then I quit watching. Come on writers, put some effort into making a movie watchable and entertaining⚠️
