Description

Mark Felt - The Man Who Brought Down the White House centers on the true story of “Deep Throat”, the notorious whistleblower for one of the greatest scandals of all time, Watergate. The true identity of the secret informant remained a mystery and source of much speculation for over 30 years. Until, in 2005, special agent Mark Felt shockingly revealed himself as the tipster. This powerful true story chronicles the life of the brilliant and uncompromising Felt, who sacrificed everything – his family, his career, his freedom – in the name of justice.

  • Very Good Movie...

The reason I a writing this review is the reaction and reviews by a certain segment of reviewers. This really is a fine movie. Great acting, good if predictable plot - predictable because we all know the ending via history. It is intense. Very relevant and timely with the current situation with the FBI. I suspect that some people with a narrow political point of view have skewed the ratings because of the personal issues with the content. This movie clearly shows the flaws that some people in our government get involved with when they get into positions of power.
  • One The Critics Got Wrong

Liam Neeson rarely disappoints and he doesn't here. I find the reviews by these four critics pretentious whilel the film isn't. It is the stuff of real life and that is why it is compelling. The script is well-made and the acting is excellent. I was a journalism student during the 70s when Watergate was going on and so the film spoke to me. I saw it at the theater and plan on watching it again. It is especially current with the Russian investigation in progress. It is also full of intrique. If you don't like reading newspapers, you probably won't like the film. If you think that films are supposed to meet the standard that critics appear to insist on, then too you will probably not like this movie. I have noticved the public likes it much more than critics. It say to them, let the film set its own standard. Liam Neeson shines in the film. I have for years been interested in the Deep Throat story. I think it is vastly more interesing that the Trump story. But there is much there, too.

I don’t normally write reviews but had to chime in due to low ratings reported in Rotten Tomatoes. I thought the movie was great. Acting -solid, story - very intriguing, star power -outstanding. One review actually went so far as to bash film because of Liam Nelson’s accent; which is an absurd argument. Film a 3.5-4 stars but gave 5 to counterbalance the haters.

Very relevant of how corruption can flow through the west wing to the FBI and how only one man with honor for the truth protected the democratic institution.
  • Great movie!

Strange to see all the low ratings from the critics. This was a great portrait of an enigmatic figure. Resonates with today's FBI and Justice Dept. proceedings.
  • Rather dull

Never gets going really and fails to explain why Felt became Deep Throat. Also Liam Nessen still has an Irish accent!
