Description

John Patrick Shanley, who created the classic, Moonstruck, brings his sweeping romantic vision to Ireland with Wild Mountain Thyme. The headstrong farmer Rosemary Muldoon (Emily Blunt) has her heart set on winning her neighbor Anthony Reilly's love. The problem is Anthony (Jamie Dornan) seems to have inherited a family curse, and remains oblivious to his beautiful admirer. Stung by his father Tony Reilly's (Christopher Walken) plans to sell the family farm to his American nephew (Jon Hamm), Anthony is jolted into pursuing his dreams in this comedic, moving and wildly romantic tale.

  • Happy Ending

Nowadays when I watch romantic movies, I’d like to see happy endings. I usually read the movie plots on the internet before watching any movie because I dislike weird twists, and I do not want my time wasted. The storyline was a bit slow, but it was worth the wait for the ending.

  • Rambling Story

I was disappointed quickly and regretted paying to rent this movie. What should have been an easy story to tell turned into a rambling and nonsensical mess. It just felt like pieces of “this and that” thrown together. Wonderful landscapes, but not enough to save the movie.

What an absolute waste of time, money and film, even Christopher Walken and beautiful Ireland couldn't save the movie just miserable muck it was. Save your dough.

I love Emily Blunt and was really looking forward to something witty and special. Well, that didn’t happen. Got sucked into this stupid story by the manipulative editing of the trailer. Jamie Dornan’s character is just pathetically annoying, not comical at all. Casting Christopher Walken was just strange and why was Jon Hamm in the movie at all? John Patrick Shanley, don’t quit your day job. You are better off pouring pints of Guinness and shots of Jamesons than writing and directing.
  • Makes no sense

This movie literally makes no sense, it's like connecting scenes with plot points and character development were left on the cutting room floor leaving you with a story that had great promise, and good acting but was completely nonsensical in the end. Love Walken but his accent is horrendous and makes it not only difficult to believe but painful to watch him muddle his way through the lines. Emily Blunt and Jon Hamm are wonderful but even they cannot save this trainwreck - wish I could either get my money back or the 2 hours that I lost watching this. Those that rated this as 4 or 5 stars either saw a completely different movie or were hired to give it a high rating so they could make some money on it as I cannot imagine anyone seeing this and recommending it.

Here are a few questions for you to answer to see if this movie is for you: Do you enjoy panoramic, breathtaking views? Do you enjoy slow burn character development? Do you pay attention to detail? Do you appreciate understatement? Do you have empathy for the lonliness of life devoted to the land? Do you have an appreciation of how you are the sum of everyone in your family who has come before you, their hopes, their dreams? Do you believe in true love? Do you enjoy intelligent stories that don't spoon feed you? If you answered "NO" to more than 2-3 of these questions, move on to another movie! If you answered "YES" to 6 or more of these questions, take a chance on it! You might love it, too! Enjoy
