Description

As America came to terms with the surprising (and for many voters, incredible) results of the presidential race of 2016, the subsequent speed of events and jam-packed news cycles meant that the usual period of reflection on what just happened did not take place. The Accidental President is British filmmaker/journalist James Fletcher’s quest for those answers. In it, he not only uncovers the detailed play-by-play from all angles on how it unfolded, but also the state of America was in which informed the outcome, what the electorate was really motivated by, and how a former game show host with an elevated understanding of the media and entertainment was able to connect with voters from all walks of life and stage a takeover of Washington D. C. — whether he meant to or not. Featuring a diverse set of fascinating contributions from both sides of the aisle, The Accidental President avoids being “Trump-bashing” film, and has instead created thinking for a much larger audience: everyone. It is an educated examination of possibly the most controversial election in modern history, and one that every future campaign must examine and understand. The Accidental President is executive produced by multiple Oscar and Emmy-winner Angus Wall (Icarus, Ava DuVernay’s 13th, Netflix’s Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, etc. )

Well produced, balanced, great interviews. Thoroughly worth a watch. James Fletcher manages to get to the core of why Trump won the election in an entertaining and enthralling way. James Fletcher for President!

While the nation begins to move on from the Trump years I think this movie is very timely and important to help the viewer understand how and why Trump happened. The story doesn’t pick a side, or allude to wether it was a good or bad thing, it simply and effectively uses narratives from both sides of the political spectrum who tell the whole story as it happened.

I thought this film did an excellent job of combing through a very complex reality and assembling it into a cohesive, enlightening, and engaging story. This film aided in my own journey to better understand our country and ALL of its citizens.

This is nothing special and too late. No one wants to hear about and relive Trump. Nothing new in this documentary. I watched 30 mins and skipped thru the rest, but it was so bad.

Even tho we all thought we knew it all- this film gives you a greater understanding about our society and Trump’s methods during the 2016 Primary and General Election. Highly recommended!
