  • Worthless musings and lies of an old fool

Oliver Stone, in discussing nuclear energy, clearly unveils his ignorance about the subject matter: oversimplifying matters; outright lying to the public about the permanent danger of nuclear waste; lying about death rates from nuclear power plant accidents (“only 51 people died at Chernobyl” “…and no one has died from nuclear power plant accidents in the world”). Stone obviously doesn’t understand anything about half-lives of radioactive elements (“water dilutes it, making it safe”) or the dangers and permanence of high-level radioactive waste (“the total nuclear waste in the United States would only fill a WalMart”). An old fool who made the confession that he doesn’t know or understand science, he beats his drum of ignorance loudly and foolishly, and Stone makes grandiose claims about technologies that don’t exist, toxic wastes that don’t need management or mitigation, and completely misses the fallacy of human errors and dire engineering mistakes in nuclear power plant operation and design, admitting that he wrote the film so the average 9th grader could understand it — although the average American 9th grader is functionally illiterate. Stone has sucked up the kool-aid served by his liberal friend, Billy Gates. Not worth even watching, unless you have malignant insomnia.

I have no problem with nuclear power. It certainly makes more sense than windmills and solar farms. I do not agree that fossil fuels is the boogie man that is going to destroy the world. First, the whole “we have less than ten years” is ridiculous. It would take far longer than mankind has left for that to happen. People need to stop listening to self appointed experts who usually have far less noble reasons for their proposals than they pretend.

The data supporting nuclear energy’s viability is crystal clear. It’s a terrible shame that we haven’t invested in the sector as we have with coal, oil, and gas. Wonderfully insightful documentary. Well done Oliver!
  • Combating climate change requires nuclear!

Oliver Stone makes a compelling case that in order to solve the climate crisis we need to look at the nuclear option! I was surprised by the well told history and promise of the nuclear industry and it’s orchestrated demise by an unholy alliance of fossil fuel lobbyists and anti-innovation conservationists. Given the scope of the challenge, we need to have an open look at all available options!

We’ve had the ability to replace fossil fuels since 1954! Dr. Steven Greer. But they keep lying to the people because it’s all about control and power.
