Description

Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman) and his wife, Etheline (Anjelica Huston), had three children -- Chas, Margot, and Richie -- and then they separated. Chas (Ben Stiller) started buying real estate in his early teens and seemed to have an almost preternatural understanding of international finance. Margot (Gwyneth Paltrow) was a playwright and received a Braverman Grant of $50,000 in the ninth grade. Richie (Luke Wilson) was a junior champion tennis player and won the U.S. Nationals three years in a row. Virtually all memory of the brilliance of the young Tenenbaums was subsequently erased by two decades of betrayal, failure, and disaster. Touchstone Home Entertainment is proud to present Wes Anderson's hilarious, touching, and brilliantly stylized study of melancholy and redemption.

Wes Anderson has such a unique directing style. He loves symmetry and even shots, and when you see that you know it’s him. ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ is something you expect from Anderson; similar to ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ and ‘Moonrise Kingdom’, though ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ isn’t his best work. An emotional rollercoaster for sure, and, of course, very well done, but slow and not ENOUGH excitement for my taste. I would definitely view it again, but not Anderson’s best work of art.

Not worth reviewing, really. Overly precious, obvious and not funny “inside jokes”. Altogether a big yawn in spite of good cast.
  • Adored it.

This is one of the best films ever! All families at one time or another need to be saved from a sinking battleship. Well worth your time.

This was really boring and not funny at all. I gave up watching it half way through. The "jokes" were contrived and the humor, such as there was, was forced. The actors seemed to be bored as well, or not enjoying it.

This film is for artsy deviants. This is not comedy...it's just weird.
