Busted for attempting to smuggle hashish out of Istanbul, American college student Billy Hayes (Davis) is thrown into the city's most brutal jail. After suffering through four years of sadistic torture and inhuman conditions, Billy is about to be released when his parole is denied. Ever since I watch this movie for the firs time. I became fascinated with bills story . To the point that I read the book. Twice actually it’s an amazing talle of a person that make one big wrong decision. I’m totally convinced that all facts from the movie are really close to what he had to endure. I strongly recommend reading the book first and then watching the movie. Up until this day I still watch the movie once in a while.

Screenplay by the Armenian diaspora trying to depict Turkey as hell. Glad that people has travelled the world more since then and movies alone no longer define countries and nations.

When I saw this film, I immediately started enjoying it. The music is very mystical and triumphant as well. Very original. I think this is Brad Davis's best role as well. He had so much passion and emotion in the film. Im sorry to say, but whenever I think of Billy Hayes, I think of Brad Davis. His performance was superb. The screenplay is also great, very good. Written by Oliver Stone, who is a great screenplay writer and director (film directed by Alan Parker, not Oliver Stone). The end of the film is so inspiring, it was like I was with Billy Hayes throughout the movie. I love this movie.
