This movie would have been perfect except Louis Gossett Jr knew more than the head of the homeland security 😂 Mason Adams . Especially talking about the mafia kid father wondering why it was okay to come to the school. "It's not the boys fault who his father is"

This is an amazing action movie. Wonderfully plotted, and with a balance of events necessary to create suspense but not not so much (or so much emphasis) as to be graphically violent. Fair warning, though: Some of the lines can be a bit crude at times (the main characters are teenage boys, after all).

As a serious DVD collector, I like my movies in widescreen. When TOY SOLDIERS was released in 2002, I was disappointed that it was only Full-Frame. So, when I downloaded the Widescreen edition from here, I compared the two versions in synch, side by side. The truth is, either way, the viewer is getting pooched. The WS version (1.85:1) is a bit wider on each side, but crops the top and bottom of the picture which appears 1/4 taller in the FF version. Another case of an open matte situation. The movie was shot at 1.33:1 then cropped to produce a 1.85:1 theatrical version. Viewer be warned.
