Description

Academy Award winner Sean Penn is Mick O'Brien, a rough Chicago teen torn between petty crime and the love of his girlfriend (Ally Sheedy). But when the heist of a local drug dealer (Esai Morales) goes tragically wrong, Mick is sentenced to a brutal juvenile prison where violence is a rite of passage and respect is measured in vengeance. Is Mick headed for a life of crime - or can he find the strength to turn himself around before it's too late?

They don't make good movies like this anymore. I have been waiting a long time for iTunes to bring this movie to the LIbrary. This movie is worth the $9.99!!

I haven't seen this movie in a long time - excellent 80's movie. It was great back then, and it's still great now. Great cast too. If you want to have some fun while you're watching this, see if you can find the camera man in the final fight seen with Mick and Paco - it's good for a laugh (hint - it's in the last ten minutes of the movie).

This movie is the original prison bad boy type movie, before all the other crap came out. This movie is awesome, not for the squeemish, it is pretty bloody at some points, you will love it.

Since this movie was from the 80's not surprising that someone might find it "dated" however "telkis" should give the actors a break, they really hadn't done much up to that point, I think Penn had just come from doing "fast times.." so given all that I feel this movie was excellant for it's time and still has relevance today, especially for anyone who may have or even new someone who grew up in some of the mean streets of Chicago.

Excellent film, I loved just about everything especially the fact that it took place in the streets of Chicago. Not too many films portray the mean streets of that city; it's forever New York City and/or Los Angeles. The direction Penn takes in the end completes the entire story; very noble and coming-of-age sort. One of the most heartfilled of the 80s.

not to be confused with the bad boys with will smith. this is a great movie with a lot of well know actors. it really sets the mood of "this could actually happen" and even in the 2000's. good plot and storyline, it could almost make you cry. theres just the right amount of charector developement so you know whats going on with everyone. i had this movie on vhs but someone stoll it so its a deffinate buy for me. for everyone else if you haven't seen it renting is good but you won't be disappointed if you buy!!
