The Night Before

I just rediscovered this 80's gem and it was exactly as good as I remembered it being when I watched it as a kid. It's funny and clever, Reeves is charming and Loughlin plays the high school princess to a "T". The George Clinton music is pretty great too. Not a deep movie, but a fun one. Definitely a product of its time but still enjoyable especially if you're a child of the 80's.

I loved this movie if only for the cameos by George Clinton and the PFunk Allstars including Bootsy, not to mention the great songs they did for the soundtrack. I live frustrated by the fact that the songs are not available on audio form. Once I rented the video and recorded from that, but have lost that tape and would have a hard time doing it again with my current technology. I also loved Keanu's dance scene and the goofy character of his early days. But, its true, it's a silly movie. Once you accept that, though, there's a lot to love.

This movie is painful to watch. The plot itself might have made for an interesting story had it been presented differently.. Despite that, it was enjoyable to watch Keanu play this role. Lori has a charm and sweetness about her that makes her character cute. The movie itself gets a little better towards the end if you can stand to get that far.

One of two movies Keanu did with Lori Laughlin. The other is "Brotherhood of Justice". This movie is a fun romp through the wrong side of the tracks. Keanu is great as the geeky teen who is the punishment for losing a bet. Lots of action and laughs. I bought this movie here because it has yet to come out on DVD for USA DVD players (only Canadian). Also look in the credits for future director Peter Berg as a PA.
