Description

Two-time Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro ("GoodFellas," "The Godfather, Part II") stars in Martin Scorsese's ("Raging Bull," "The Age of Innocence") drama of young men coming to manhood by the code of New York's Little Italy. A harrowing, intense, and grueling dramatic experience -- brilliantly acted and directed. Also starring Academy Award-nominee Harvey Keitel ("Pulp Fiction," "The Piano") and future producer Amy Robinson ("After Hours," "Running on Empty"). Inducted into the Library of Congress National Film Registry. Recently selected by the prestigious American Film Institute as one of the 400 greatest American films of all time. Leonard Maltin praises this as the "technically dazzling film that put director Scorsese on the map... and deservedly so," giving it his highest rating of "****" (four stars).

  • Unfair from Apple.

I bought this movie 2-3 years ago on the iTunes video store, And it isn't under my movies again. So you're telling me I need to pay for this? Hell to the no excuse my French. I would like an email from Apple especially about restoring the purchase I bought couple years back. There is no way I will pay again for something I already own. You can check my purchases if you can go that far back. I don't deserve this for being such a loyal Apple product man. Please Apple, restore this purchase on my movies and send me an email, you will get your 5 stars.

Have now watched this movie twice. Do not see what all the hype is about. Typical Scorsese crime drama with the usual amount of violence, mob ties, and loud people. Harvey Keitel and Robert De Niro do what they do best: create characters who are brutal but human. The actress who portrayed Theresa did a good job of playing a very annoying person. Two stars are for the actors.

You really want that one guy to die!!! Overall kinda pointless and annoying, everyone talking fast and being stupid, but I guess that's reality.

gritty, well developed characters but overall, the story just isn't compelling or interesting enough to overcome the excellent technicals of the movie---it is though, a worthy lead up to the masterpiece, 'Taxi Driver'
  • Massive Disappointment

No real plot, no real events and just a bunch of guys posturing around - the only redeeming features is that the setting and the cars and some reasonable acting, but that gets drowned out without a plot, no story, no events and no developments - boring.

A very early project of scorsese's that bristles with energy and style. One of my all time favorites
  • I'm glad I rented this...

So I never have to watch it again. Usually I pick winners, but Red Riding Hood and this were both bad choices. You'd think a classic with good actors has to be decent! Not so, it's just a noisy jumbled mess...kind of like a film school project or something! I just don't get it. Don't waste your hard earned money on this one!!!

Absolutely stunning. Everything about this film was great. As usual a phenomenal soundtrack which always fits the scenario, wonderfully pieced together story, and you really get to know the characters. I highly recommend it over almost every other film created by Martin Scorcese!
