I was skepcital for Martin Scorsese because for fact he makes really good pieces of filmmaking that spills through his career like crazy even though Marty has talent for his generous filmmaking skills he will stop at nothing to be a good director. Hugo was the film that i could relate to because it explores the topic of how cinema are evented in 1930's paris and as a lover of cinema this movie delivers as a memoior of filmmaking achivement and cinema above. Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield) has a misopportunity in life when his special father (Jude Law) died in a fire accident that leaves Hugo living in the walls of the train station in 1930's paris, Hugo works hard even though he is a thief upon steeling lieture and objects of course he has a working motionless robot that his father created to keep him company. Hugo faces many foes like his toy merchant George Méliés (Ben Kingsley) and the goofy station insepctor (Sasha Baron Cohen) who keeps a eye on Hugo whever he thiefs his way out of steeling and running away. Also Hugo accompanys Isabelle (Cholë Grace Mortez) on a one way adventure to solve a mysterious piece message sent by Hugo's long lost late father. The plot is very very interesting but still Martin Scorsese's creative thinking skills for this movie feels overpowerd with beautiful locations and over the top visual effects i like the that Hugo explains the creativty and the history of cinema through the 1930's i think that cinema back in that year was cheap and really inspiring for other filmmakers upon viewing this movie it's a suprise that no other movie explains filmmaking achivement instead focus on the character driven plots that ensue. The child actors were fantastic quite possibly the best child actor performences i have seen in a film so far. I think this film feels like throwing in for the Stanely Kubrick filmmaking for this movie alone Martin Scorsese achived a PG-rated film witn loads of beautiful performences and interesting storytelling that kept me watching over and over again. Although the film has cliches and flaws it's still a personal favorite for many audiences throughout i highly recommend watching Socrsese's other films including Hugo it's a high achiving movie with good spice of filmmaking-rating 9/10
  • Perfectly decent, but no classic

Hailed by critics at its release as an instant classic for children, Hugo seems to have dropped into the abyss in subsequent years. And in my opinion for good reason. This is in no way a bad film. Expertly made, as Scorsese films almost always are. Beautiful to look at. Excellent performances (with one exception I’ll note in a moment). So what’s the problem? But there are several problems: First, it’s not one story but two, and the two don’t hang together. Is this a story about an orphaned boy, or a love letter to cinema? Scorsese tries to make them blend together seamlessly, and IMO they simply don’t. The move from orphan-boy film to cinema-love-letter feels awkward and odd, and by the end I felt as if Scorsese didn’t give a rip about Hugo and was really making a film about Georges Méliès and only using Hugo to get to Méliès. Second, I found Cohen’s character of Inspector Gustave Dasté, clearly intended to be the villain of the piece, to be a cartoon, a flat, two-dimensional buffoon who seems as if he dropped in from a 70s-era Pink Panther movie. I reached the point where I winced every time he was on screen. Here’s a movie that’s supposed to be magical, and Cohen kept yanking me right out of the film. (I always hate it when a character seems to be from a completely different movie. Will Ferrell’s character in Wedding Crasher’s felt similar.) In short it’s a fine move, but no classic. I have no idea why it got so much love; maybe a lot of film buffs enjoyed seeing early film pioneer Méliès get some recognition. Maybe the Scorsese name carries a huge weight. Whatever it is, it’s a good film, but certainly not the “classic” it’s portrayed as.

My absolute favorite film down to the content, screen writing, cinematography, etc...I can’t over emphasize just how brilliantly beautiful this movie was executed. I will note that if you aren’t a movie buff or one for substance; then you might try a different movie genre altogether. This movie is for those with discerning tastes.

I watched it last night at home and it was very good. Hugo Cabret was a good boy and he hanged out on a clock from that bad guy. I love Hugo Cabret.
