A Guy Named Joe

Daredevil flying aces who give their lives defending their country never truly die--they ascend to a celestial flight school where they train and protect pilots still on earth. Academy Award winner Spencer Tracy stars as Major Pete Sandridge. When Sandridge's plane goes down during World War II, he awakens to join the buddies who have gone before him, meets The General (Academy Award winner Lionel Barrymore) and receives his new assignment: guiding young pilot Ted Randall (Van Johnson). But Sandridge's assistance goes beyond flying when Randall falls in love with the angelic pilot's girlfriend, Dorinda Durston (Irene Dunn), who still grieves his passing.
