Description

Based on author David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, The Lost City of Z tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as “savages,” the determined Fawcett — supported by his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), son (Tom Holland) and aide-de-camp (Robert Pattinson) — returns time and again to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case, culminating in his mysterious disappearance in 1925. An epically scaled tale of courage and passion, told in writer/director James Gray’s classic filmmaking style, The Lost City of Z is a stirring tribute to the exploratory spirit and a conflicted adventurer driven to the verge of obsession.

I can’t believe I waited so long to see this. What a pleasant surprise it was. Well worth the money I spent. Love, family, war, adventure, beautiful scenery and music...this movie has it all. I’m surprised it didn’t receive even more attention. The story moves along well and is adapted from the book of the same name by David Grann. Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) is a British explorer obsessed with finding a reported lost city in the Amazon jungle. The movie shows his difficult struggle to balance his goal with love for his wife and family. Robert Pattinson of the Twilight series fame plays his fellow-explorer Henry Costin. Check it out!

The film, artistically, was well shot. The storyline however was terrible, the acting, terrible. A waste of my time and money.

The reason I rented it was for Robert Pattinson and Charlie Hunnam. I thought the acting was good . I didn’t get how a man could be more in Love with his Lost City than his Lovely family just to risk his life in a dangerous place! It was worth the 99 cents though.

SPOILER ALERT: Make sure you know the true story about what actually happened! I wasn't aware of it, and I got into the movie and it was very very good. Then, the ending happened. I have to say, it ruin the entire movie for me. I would have rather not have known ANY of the story if I knew how it ended. VERY DEPRESSING!

Not sure what the director was trying to achieve with drawn out slow dialogue and an extremely slow pace. Painful to watch.

This movie had no direction. It started out ok and then just plummeted. Very disappointed.
