Cary Grant plays John Robie, reformed jewel thief who was once known as The Cat, in this suspenseful Alfred Hitchcock classic thriller. Robie is suspected of a new rash of gem thefts in the luxury hotels of the French Riviera, and he must set out to clear himself. Meeting pampered heiress Frances (Grace Kelly), he sees a chance to bait the mysterious thief with her mother's (Jessie Royce Landis) fabulous jewels. His plan backfires, however, but France, who believes him guilty, proves her love by helping him escape. In a spine-tingling climax, the real criminal is exposed.

  • The Perfect Classic Movie

Watched this with my much younger wife. I had forgotten the incredible scenery, the wonderful acting, the gorgeous leading characters and the skillful writing and directing. Great fun, and a great classic.

Iโ€™m not a person who typically watches movies from this era, although there must be a reason they are classics. I decided to give it a try, hoping I wouldnโ€™t be too bored. It was better than any movie out there today. You donโ€™t need the special effects to achieve a great story line, and Grace Kelly is perfection as is Cary Grant. I am grateful I bought this movie, as I will enjoy it for years to come with my family!

Suave sophistication and uncompromised beauty and elegance with genuine acting that isnโ€™t โ€œactingโ€. Great story, made all the better with a strong cast and direction.
