The story penetrates the inner workings of the criminals minds as it follows their purposeless meandering through Mexico and the United States in evasion of the law. After more than a year of wandering, the hunted men are finally caught, tried and in a dramatic conclusion condemned to hang.

    Based on trailer, book and accolades, I was expecting this film to be a power-house. Instead is dreadful script and a distain for leaving footage on the cutting room floor. We never really get inside the killer's mind, which is really what makes Capote's book powerful. Instead we get endless flashbacks and trite dialogue. However, I did enjoy how movie circles back around to the crime and intricately reveals it, the cinematography, sound and location shooting is all a delight, but it all seemed rather self-aware Oscar-baiting. A little less pretense could have given film the lift it so badly needs.

    This film will still get your heart racing. Unlike 'Capote' which focuses on Truman Capotes relationship with the Killers in writing his book, this movie focuses on the killers, victims, and law enforcement officials in piecing together what happened and why. It even digs into the past of Perry Smith, the trigger man through it all. Like 'Dead Man Walking' with Sean Penn, in the end you go away with a hollow feeling inside, as to why any of this happened. You realize that although capital punishment is justified, it never numbs the pain that all parties feel to the crime that took place. This is a great film!

    Ignore the two star poster. Checked out his other posts and the guy wouldn't recognize talented filmmaking unless it walked up and slapped him in the face. In Cold Blood is an incredible movie. I'll agree Capote is an excellent film, but to dismiss ICB is idiotic.

    Just to give you a little backround on this film. First, Robert Blake and Scott Wilson look quite a bit like the real killers. Also, the scenes in the house where the murders took place was actually shot in the actual house, not a set. This makes the film even more creepy that you see the murders done in the house where the real family was killed. Even though it was released in 1967 this film hasn't lost its power as it did when it first got released. Rent this film, see what i mean. You won't forget this movie.The book may be great but this film holds up quite well. RENT or BUY it NOW!!

    This movie is amazing, Richard Brooks is one of the greatest screenwriters and directors. I saw a restored 70mm print in LA on a big screen. It was the first time the print had been shown. Not one scratch, that's how I recommend one should see this film. The black and white work in this film is astonishing, especially the sequences in the cell.
