Over the last year I have watched this movie at least 4 to 5 times after finding TCM on cable. It is not only interested but quite funny and entertaining, with a great story and cast of various characters & lovely women. When you see these restored old movies it makes you feel as if they could have been made yesterday and these people are still walking around, but are not, of course. The only thing I would complain about here is the price. The price has been $10 for quite some time and now $15, yet it is only standard definition. I can watch it any time on my DVR (taped) from directV and no way I would pay this much for it. Oh well maybe in due time I will pick it up to own somewhere, like I did here with Rear Window, The Big Sleep, and others from way back that I like.

An excellent film for all the right reasons: the acting, writing, direction. Bogart, Bacall, Robinson, Trevor, and Barrymore are superb in their roles. The supporting cast is topnotch. The story keeps the viewer on the edge of the seat between the dangerous storm and situation at hand.

Bogart, Bacall, E.G. Robinson and Lionel Barrymore- can't beat the cast or the story. Bogart plays the post WW II anti-hero to perfection, to see his character express self-doubt and moral ambiguity is refreshing, especially for the type-cast Bogart. This film placed him apart from the tough gangster and detective characters and allowed him to portray a more sympathetic individual back from WW II and lost in a world in which he no longer belongs or believes. Bacall is simply beautiful in a very subdued form of character as the widowed war bride. Great performances all the way around. Don't miss this one! Grab your beer and popcorn and settle in for this one.

I like the stars, but it was quite a boring movie. Probably good in its day.

This is an all time classic five star film for all true fans of Film Noir. Bogart and Robinson play off each other perfectly and give us a slightly different twist on their usual Warner Bros tough guy personas. I watch this one at least once a year.
