  • A Rare, Genuine Dramedy

'In Good Company' is a comedic drama about two men: Carter, a twenty-something with the perfect professional life, and Dan, a middle-aged man with the perfect personal life. Dan is demoted to work under the far-less-experienced Carter, and bristles at the changes in his workplace. Dennis Quaid as 'Dan' plays the part of exasperated father-figure to an appealingly wide-eyed Topher Grace as Carter. Both characters become sympathetic (even if they aren't at first), and the story is genuine without being schlocky. Sometimes, the comedy is wince-inducing (behold the very first scene) even while it amuses. The movie asks you to laugh at life - which is just as sad as it is funny, and often at the same time. I've spent way more time writing this review than I initially anticipated. For a very simple story this is a difficult one to describe. I highly recommend you watch it, especially with family.
  • NOT THAT GOOD

So honestly I did not really understand what I was watching. It sort of has an identity crisis. It did not feel like a comedy even though it says its a comedy. I found only a few laughable parts through its entirety. The story also was lacking any feeling.

The acting was good but the story moved like stagnant water.

Everyone needs a good parent. This is a parenting film. Some have suggested this is about male bonding. Nah. It is about the idea of care, sticking to it and telling the truth. There is little acting and everyone is a good stereotypical sort. It is a fun film, unlike Rolling Stone, quoted somewhere in the promo, this is hot "hilarious." It is sweet and funny. A Hollywood fluff job that is enjoyable. I mean, it's Dennis Quaid, after all!

This movie is P.F.G. I mean it! Well, If you've seen the movie, you would be able to know what P.F.G. Means, but I'm serious, this movie is great: the plot, the characters, setting, EVERYTHING is amazing!

I was disapointed with this movie because I thought it was s'posed to be more of a romantic comedy, but it wasn't at all. It didn't really have a point to it and it wasn't funny at all. I don't know why the genre is comedy--it seems like more of a light-hearted drama.

Good movie with a pretty likeable main character, although this movie is in some dire need of alternate ending.
