Rose Morgan (Barbra Streisand), who still lives with her mother (Lauren Bacall), is a professor of Romantic Literature who desperately longs for passion in her life. Gregory Larkin (Jeff Bridges) a mathematics professor, has been burned by passionate relationships and longs for a sexless union based on friendship and respect. They're two people with almost nothing in common, but Fate in the form of a personal ad and a meddling sister brings them together.     This is one of my all time favorite Love Stories. I actually watched it on cable just for something to do one night and by happy chance, it ended up being amazing, heartwarming and just tearjerking. It also has a great message about learning to love yourself before being able to really have a relationship with someone else which I enjoyed. It isn't one of those cookie cutter stories when girl falls for boy, relationship starts off strong until some misunderstanding occurs and than it is fixed, the end. This one is much more unique than that.

    This movie inspired me on my own journey of transformation. I absolutely love the story line, cast and music. I think I have seen this movie at least 10 times and I still want to watch it! I love the way that Greg finally allows his feelings and Rose ultimately changes for herself, but love inspired them both! Excellent movie.

    When I first watched this movie I was.. uncertain. But I soon fell in love. This movie is my all time favorite. I love the character of Rose, and the character depicts a more modern "normal" woman. Not a hot skinny ..babe, but a smart, funny, beautiful woman with layers. And I always cry at the failed.."sex scene" that hits almost every women's insecurity. But I love that she does not give up, but grows. She changes. Everyone can. But Rose stays the same, she justs.. she has been polished so the world could see what was already there. Even if you are not a "Barbara Fan", the story line of the movie has a more realistic quality of love and relationships. It is not mushy, it's..wonderful!

    This is one of my all-time favorite movies and I'm not a "Barbara" fan. The insecure ugly duckling transforming into a beautiful courageous swan is delightful to see. No matter how many times I see this one, I'm still moved to tears as the story unfolds and I rejoice as I watch her transformation into a beautiful and confident woman being brought to life.
