Videodrome

What makes this movie so amazing is that the political message behind the movie holds up even more today than it did 30 years ago. How the government and all of these tv stations try to manipulate the masses and brainwash people who watch their broadcasts. As for the movie itself, you can't ask for a better psychological/ horror movie. it has an eerie score, a great cast, and right till the end keeps you on the edge of your seat. The special effects may not be the best but the overall concept behind the film is what makes it such a standout among its time and horror movies in general. I would recommend watching this late at night with all the lights off to get the full effect. It's definitely not for everyone, but for those of you who want something unique and more sophisticated than your usual slasher horror film, then buy all means watch this. Get ready for one hell of a ride.

Love any and all Cronenberg films. Videodrome is one of his best. I wish iTunes had Scanners?? SCANNERS please.

This is probably one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen but it is amazing and VERY rewatchable buy it!

What the hell is going on in this movie? Don't ask me, 'cause I don't know. It's stylistically cool, with great writing and directing by Cronenberg, great acting and great cinematography... I'm just really lost about the plot! It's very trippy, with the main character hallucinating to the point where not only does he not know what's real and what's not, but neither do WE! I enjoyed it, but not as much as "The Fly" or "Dead Zone." James Woods' character is just not very likable or sympathetic, and it's not very scary or suspenseful either. Just trippy and a bit disturbing. Still good, just very confusing.

i used to love this more tha i do now. however, it's one of teh thre egreat modern cult films. the others are lynhc's blue velvet and john wters' polyester. videodrome is prhaps the definitive cult movie in existence.

Great story and acting, and amazing make-up effects by Rick Baker. A must have for any David Cronenberg fan.

Director David Cronenberg uses a blend of sci-fi and physical horror in order to create unease in his audience. Congratulations Dave. I had my parents watch this with me and it was definately an uneasy moment. You win. Now leave me alone.

Videodrome is essentially David Cronenberg's exploration on the ideas of media profit Marshall Mcluhan. It's an examination of media and technology, and the effects it has on us. Cronenberg uses his signature "organic horror" style of film making to give us a visual representation of these ideas and thoughts. I strongly recommend it for anyone with an interest in the effects of technology and entertainment on society, as well as anyone who is just a fan of Horror films.

Long live the new flesh!

A pornographic television signal causes brain tumors and hallucinations in those who watch, ultimately allowing its creators to control their viewers. Who is sending it and why? Plan on watching it several times to really understand what is going on- the movie alternates between showing what is being hallucinated by the protagonist and what is "real" without telling you (the audience) which is which, leaving you guessing. Not particularly scary (although it has some rather gory moments), it is more effective as a commentary on the place television has in our society and individual lives.
