From the legendary Studio Ghibli, creators of Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro, and Academy Award®-winning director Hayao Miyazaki, comes a heartwarming adventure. When Sosuke, a young boy who lives on a clifftop overlooking the sea, rescues a stranded goldfish named Ponyo, he discovers more than he bargained for. Ponyo is a curious, energetic young creature who yearns to be human, but even as she causes chaos around the house, her father, a powerful sorcerer, schemes to return Ponyo to the sea.

I re-watch this film a few times a year and every time I re-watch it I see aomething I didn’t before. I grew up with Totoro and this movies style is nostalgic reminders of the other movies.

I honestly love the film and the quality is great, but it’s disappointing to see you can’t rent it yet.

    It was breathtaking
  • No Japanese audio?! 😤

    By not available 🤷🏻‍♂️
I can't believe this version doesn't include the original Japanese dialogue! The film itself deserves five stars, but this is just silly.

I remember watching this in the movie theaters with my father and telling him it was the same people who made Pokemon and when he told me it wasn’t I sad no I can tell the art style is the same😂 I still enjoy this movie so much even after all of this time it’s such a good watch

How very lame of Studio Ghibli to not include the original audio track.
  • A fantastic retelling of the little mermaid

Ponyo is probably not one of the more popular movies with the Ghibli fans but it is some of the team’s best work on its own. The movie feels magical and like other Ghibli movies captures humanity and childhood in a beautiful way.
