This movie is magical. I mean, the world is sooo unique. I’ve never seen anything like this! Studio Ghibli films are heart warming, magical, and makes you think about the world around you. Miyazaki has a profound message in this film, as does in all his films. A must watch!

There are no words in the world alone that can’t describe how magical this movie was. And is.

Hayao Miayzaki's career as a successful director actually began with this haunting 1984 animated drama about a princess in a post-apocalyptic future struggling to bring peace to warring kingdoms. Although there are times when the film's animated seems more "crude" than most of his later works, NAUSICAA is still, quite frankly, gorgeous to look at. Some may take issue with the film's slow pace, but Miyazaki builds this film to a moving and meaningful climactic finale which still holds up today. Originally, NAUSICAA was brought to the U.S. in a badly dubbed, heavily edited abridgement called "Warriors of the Wind", which Miyazaki personally detested (and rightly so). Thankfully, when Disney picked up the rights, the film was restored to its original length and given a proper dub wiwth a cast headed by Alison Lohman and Patrick Stewart. Although it's not my favorite Miyazaki film by any means, there are people who do consider this movie one of Miyazaki's greatest achievements, and it's easy to see why. The director would later tackle similar issues in 1997's PRINCESS MONONOKE, but this film is the less graphic of the two, and may be more appropriate for kids on account of it. The real target audience for NAUSICAA, though, is as significantly older age, which is a plus.
