From Alexander Payne, the creator of the Oscar-winning SIDEWAYS, set in Hawaii, THE DESCENDANTS is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki.     A very timely tale of one family and their journey towards healing and forgiveness. Absolutely fantastic cast and gorgeous photography.

    Whereas James Michener's Hawaii was about western missionaries settling in Hawaii, and Micheners The Hawaiians (both based on one book) was about their descendants, this film (not related to Michener) would provide a worthy second sequel. In essence, it is about a family of white landowers )who've had the same land in their family for generations) decide what to do with it. This is not a blockbuster film, but is okay.

    For viewers that enjoy movies where at least one character has super powers and has to figure out to use them to save the galaxy or characters that can dodge machine gun fire from 20 feet or enjoy a car exploding every five minutes. Sorry you're not going to enjoy movie! This movie has great acting along with a real exploration into the characters. Loved it!

    One of GC's best performances and I loved the plot and I bought this movie. It is funny and sad and true to life's "curve balls" ....as one person in the reviews said...this is funny if you don't think so then you haven't lived like I have ....well I have lived like you have and this is funny....yes its sad too but it ends well...watch it and enjoy...

    The story is about a father reconnecting with his daughter after the wife/mother is injured and is in a coma. Simple quiet hilarious and touching. this is one of my top movies.
