  • Never seen anything like it - practically life-changing

The script is amazing. The cinematography is beautiful, the music is atmospheric and brilliant. Bruce Dern and June Squibb gave award-winning performances. This is a quirky sad story about old age and family. People say they were bored, and I can understand that but I never was because the script was so hilarious and unique that every line someone said was entertaining. It deserves all of its Oscar nominations. This really was a perfect movie (but if you don't pay attention to the dialogue and the acting and kinda zone out, you won't enjoy it. And that would be your fault, not the movie's.)

I have no idear why this film was nominated for an Oscar. But, I do know why it didn’t win. Interesting story, sub-par acting, writing, directing (seemed like a film school student filmed it). Didn’t mind the BW. Good choice to take the color out of it. Just wasn’t worth it in the end. A lot better movies like this out there.

Dialogue needs to sound like people actually talking. It isn’t supposed to exist merely to move a plot.

As an adult child of an elderly parent I really enjoyed this movie. I really related to the son and how he wanted to fulfill his father's dream, even if it was a little delusional. I grew up in Arizona but moved away for awhile to live in Iowa and Minnesota. I have visited many old towns and loved the parts where they return to similar towns to reminisce. Lovely film.

It wasn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen. I chuckled here and there but no big laughs. It’s a one-time view.
  • Fantastic Movie

The Trailer does not do the movie justice. This movie is brilliantly written, acted, directed and filmed. The movie is 20X more funny than the Trailer suggests. This is a ‘must see’ movie.

I agree with Ramsackle. I grew up in a small town. It was nothing like this. In fact small town virtues could help this country. A waste of time and talent.
  • I can relate

If you have older parents that you love but drive you insane, watch this movie. You won't regret it. FYI it starts off a little slow but will pick up once the father and son hit the road.
